more about me

The short version: Got ill, dropped out of uni, (a few years passed, then...) became a journalist with print and online writing experience and online editing experience.

The long version: I always wanted to be a writer but was a bit slow in actually, you know, doing anything about it. Then I went to university, got really ill, had to drop out of my course and and re-assessed my priorities. Drastically.

As I slowly got my strength back, I realised life was too short to be shy and began contributing small pieces for publication in charity magazines, then websites, then national magazines and newspapers.

Since then, I've spent a year as joint editor of books blog Trashionista, contributed to The Telegraph, Guardian Unlimited, Easy Living, Essentials, Company, Mslexia and many others and become a regular presence in Woman's Weekly, answering questions about new technology every two weeks. (I don't take any of this for granted: I pinch myself daily... or I would if I were less of a wuss).

My specialist subjects are books, TV, new technology/the internet, women's lives, health... and, of course, feminist ranting with a sense of humour.

However, I'm always happy to branch out and add new strings to my bow (which makes me... a tree with a violin?) so feel free to contact me with genuine writing proposals on any subject.

Now, I feel I should add something more personal here, as life is about more than work (no, really!) so here goes: I watch far too much TV, want to be buried with my iPod and wouldn't eat onions if you paid me. I want to be Nora Ephron when I grow up.
